CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Oct. 4, 2000) - Omnicom Group has acquired The Motorsports Decisions Group, Inc., (TMDG) a leading Charlotte-based sports marketing agency primarily known for its NASCAR-related accounts.

TMDG and its employees will remain in Charlotte and the TMDG name will be retained as well. Danielle Randall, who founded the company in 1996, will continue as president.

Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE-OMC) (www.omnicomgroup.com), the leading marketing communications company in the world, consists of advertising agency networks BBDO Worldwide, DDB Worldwide and TBWA Worldwide. The group also includes Goodby, Silverstein & Partners; Diversified Agency Services (DAS), which operates a number of leading, independently branded companies in marketing services and specialty communications; Omnicom Media Group, which includes two leading international media buying and planning agencies, OMD and PhD; and Communicade, which manages significant investments in leading Internet and digital media development companies.

"This acquisition is important for the growth of TMDG and its staff," said Randall. "The Omnicom companies provides our sport with another avenue in which to network, along with a level of resources that enables our agency to remain competitive and continue to flourish within the motorsports industry. TMDG will bring specific expertise in motorsports marketing to clients of Omnicom-owned agencies. It makes sense for us to join forces."

"TMDG represents a significant addition to the sports capabilities within the Omnicom agency network. TMDG will increase our NASCAR involvement and provide further ability within this growing sport," said president Steve Groth, who heads Radiate Group, Inc., a holding company for a number of Omnicom sports and events agencies.

TMDG currently manages motorsports accounts for corporations including Square D Company, The Home Depot, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Crew Chief Club, EA SPORTS and Riddell Sports. The agency's athlete representation includes drivers Kenny Wallace, Randy LaJoie, Geoffrey Bodine and Mike Wallace; crew chiefs Todd Parrott, Jimmy Makar, Larry McReynolds, Robin and Ryan Pemberton, Greg Zipedelli, Jimmy Elledge and Tommy Baldwin. Race teams MacPherson Motorsports and Eel River Racing are also among TMDG's client roster.

"Omnicom Group shares a similar philosophy with TMDG in providing their clients with innovative ideas and exceptional marketing services," said Randall. "We understood that with the industry consolidation currently taking place, we needed to entertain the idea of becoming a part of something larger, without having to give up our philosophies. From the moment Omnicom first introduced themselves to our agency, we knew they were the perfect fit. We are excited and proud to be associated with Omnicom, and look forward to the opportunities this relationship will present to our clients and the sport of auto racing."
