International Reel Wheel Film Festival Set For Mar. 8-10 In Knoxville; Historical Forums To Feature Midwestern Flavor In 2002

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (AUG. 30, 2001) - The fourth annual International Reel Wheel Film Festival, celebrating the automobile and automobile racing in film, is scheduled for March 8-10, 2002, in Knoxville. The festival, which has screened over sixty nominated films in the past three years from the United States and Australia, is a fundraiser for the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. The successful historical forums, which debuted last year as part of the weekend celebration, will return in 2002 with the theme, "The Great Auto Racing Heritage of America's Heartland."

According to museum director Thomas J. Schmeh, "We are pleased to be offering more historical presentations in March, in addition to the non-juried film exhibition and the juried film competition. We expect we'll see several forums dealing with open-wheel and stock car racing history from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota and Illinois."

Those individuals seeking further information on the International Reel Wheel Film Festival & Historical Forums in Knoxville are urged to contact co-chair Schmeh at 641-842-6176. Entry forms for the juried film competition (feature films, student films, made-for-TV productions, auto racing videos, corporate/promotional videos) are currently available and may be requested by e-mailing the museum at sprintcarhof@sprintcarhof.com.
