NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME TO HONOR MARIO ANDRETTI WITH PUBLIC RECEPTION ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, IN KNOXVILLE

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 5, 2009) - The non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation in Knoxville is pleased to honor its 1996 inductee Mario Andretti of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, August 11, with a free and open-to-the-public reception on its second floor. This initial appearance by Mario Andretti at the museum, courtesy of Tony Stewart Racing and the STP Corporation, will be emceed by veteran journalist Dave Argabright and will last from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. It follows the 1 p.m. public unveiling of the STP paint scheme of Donny Schatz' 2009 Knoxville Nationals sprint car, which honors Mario's 1969 Indianapolis 500 win, in the museum's James Campbell Lobby.

According to museum executive director Bob Baker, "Mario Andretti's time in Knoxville will be limited, so he will not be able to participate in the autograph session originally planned by the museum. However, we are very honored to have him as our guest for this public reception, in which fans will be given a short period of time to ask him questions following his interview with Dave Argabright. Since he could not make his own induction ceremony in 1996 due to his Indy car commitments in Milwaukee that year, we are thrilled that he will at long last be able to personally see his plaque in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, presented by the Pella Rolscreen Foundation."
