U.S. F2000 Renamed And New Logo Introduced
FAIRFIELD, N.J. (December 5, 2001)- The U.S. F2000 National Championship presented by Speedvision today announced that it has been renamed the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship.
Following the sale of Formula Motorsports, Inc. and its U.S. F2000 National Championship to Primus Racing, Ltd. in June, and the completion of the 2001 season it was decided the series would undergo a name change. The new name represents the evolution of the 10 year-old series and the introduction of the new 2-liter Ford Zetec engine package.
With the introduction of the new series name, comes the introduction of a new series logo. The new logo will be phased into all series documents and identification, as well as the website in the coming months. The series website will remain www.usf2000.com
The championship within a championship for the old Ford Pinto engine package will remain to be called the American Continental Championship. "I am excited about the upcoming season and the further development of the series," said Jon Baytos. "The introduction of the new series name and logo is just the first step in the growth of this fantastic championship."
The Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship will conduct a series winter test December 11-13, 2001, at Roebling Road in Savannah, Georgia.
