FORT WORTH-DALLAS (June 22, 2000) - Mark Stafford has been named director of sales by Texas Motor Speedway General Manager Eddie Gossage. "Mark is one of the most progressive leaders in sports marketing in this country," Gossage said. "He's been involved in racing for more than a dozen years. He has a unique way of taking the needs of the client or sponsor and making the association with the speedway profitable for the client." Stafford, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been in the business of sales for 18 years. He joined Texas Motor Speedway in 1998. Prior to that, he handled sales, as an account executive, for Lowe's Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway. In 1996, Stafford left Atlanta Motor Speedway to pursue a career in real estate. But he soon realized he missed motorsports and returned to sales with Texas Motor Speedway. After moving to Texas, he served as a sales manager for The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway. Stafford and his staff are responsible for educating the Fort Worth-Dallas area on advertising opportunities at Texas Motor Speedway, orchestrating a marketing plan on a national level and increasing sales. Stafford wants Texas Motor Speedway to be recognized as the most successful sales organization in motorsports. He plans to continue to increase sales while maintaining a high level of integrity. Before his life became dedicated to motorsports, he spent three years as a sales account executive for Lanier Business Products in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Stafford, who is single, resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
