LAS VEGAS - Busy ticket agents and brisk sales highlighted the first day of ticket sales for the March 4, 2001, NASCAR Winston Cup event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Thousands of telephone calls and ticket orders were taken between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific Time).
"Most all of the race fans who bought tickets today are new ticket holders to Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Chris Powell, LVMS' executive vice president and general manager. "Unlike previous years, our renewal notices for this past year's fans already have been processed. It was the remaining tickets that went on sale Monday, and our ticket office was quite busy. The race is not a sellout. We still have good seats available. But if we continue this current pace of selling tickets, the remaining tickets will go fast."
The NASCAR Winston Cup event, which will be the fourth held at LVMS, will be preceded on Saturday, March 3, by the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series event. The Orleans Pole Day for the NASCAR Winston Cup event will be Friday, March 2. The Pennzoil World of Outlaws will run a three-day event from March 1-3 on the half-mile dirt track located adjacent to the superspeedway.
Fans can order tickets by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-644-4444 or logging on to Tickets.com.
