LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway and CarsDirect.com, a California-based on-line automobile dealer, have agreed not to renew their contract for title sponsorship of the annual NASCAR Winston Cup event at LVMS.

"The CarsDirect.com 400 was a great success for both the speedway and CarsDirect.com," said Chris Powell, LVMS' executive vice president and general manager. "We have enjoyed our relationship with CarsDirect.com, and we believe it feels the same way about LVMS. But the landscape of motorsports is changing, and we have to do what is best for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We've had lengthy discussions with the folks at CarsDirect.com, and they understand our position.

"Our focus is on bringing in a new, long-term partner for the 2001 season and beyond that will help make future NASCAR Winston Cup events the best ever at our speedway.

Jeff Burton held off Tony Stewart and Mark Martin to win this year's CarsDirect.com 400 in front of approximately 135,000 fans.
