MIAMI (September 27, 2000) - David Larson has been named Director of Marketing and Communications at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Speedway President Curtis Gray announced today.

In his new position, effective immediately, Larson will be responsible for the overall communications plan for the South Florida track as well as all aspects of marketing, promotions, public relations and advertising.

“David has a wide range of experience that will be extremely valuable to our organization,” said Gray. “We look forward to continuing to grow our presence in the motorsports community and to increasing our fan base in South Florida with David’s input and expertise.”

A resident of Miami, Larson was the gold medalist and world record holder in the 800-meter freestyle relay at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

He most recently served as the vice president for business development for the Alton Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, Calif. (1993-2000) A graduate of the University of Florida, Larson’s background includes work as the assistant marketing director for Don Smith Consultants, New York (1984-1986), assistant marketing director for the University of Florida Athletic Association (1986-1987), and vice president of sales and marketing for Athlete Management Services of Atlanta (1988-1992).

He is a graduate of the University Florida with a degree in marketing. He has been inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame.

Larson resides in Kendall with his wife Kitty and son Jake, age five.
