John Thawley Announces American Le Mans Series Champions Photo Collection

DETROIT - Motorsports photographer, John Thawley, announced today the release of a new series of collectibles commemorating the 2005 American Le Mans Drivers' Championship. The 2005 Collection, Champions will pay tribute to the Champion, 2nd, and 3rd runners-up in each of the four racing classes.

"I'm really excited about this collection," expressed Thawley. "I've gone to extraordinary lengths to insure the quality of each and every element of these items. I wanted to be sure each item in the Champions suite was representative of the high quality fans have come to expect from the American Le Mans Series brand."

"The American Le Mans Series has truly had an outstanding year and many of those exciting moments that capture the essence of our Champions are reflected in John's book," said Scott Atherton, President and CEO of the American Le Mans Series. "It is a product that reflects the high quality of our series and all those who support it."

"We are always interested in partnering with entities that reflect the premier standards that our brand represents and to which our fans, manufacturers, teams, and sponsors have become accustomed," added Atherton.

"We started with our book program and completely turned it inside out," Thawley continued. "From the page design to the bindery, every detail has been revisited, changed and audited. We are using the finest Italian linens for our covers, smooth high-quality matte 100# cover stock for each and every page, and design elements typically reserved for only the finest art books. One of the most exciting features of the books are the full-bleed border-less images including several two-page spreads. The images truly remain faithful in reproduction to their photographic counterparts. In addition, I am offering the book in a leather bound foil stamped Collector's Edition in limited numbers."

"The true piece de resistance," added Thawley, is the Limited Edition Boxed Set of prints. What I've done is selected 12 images from the book, and created 11 x 14 photographic prints on archival Kodak Endura Metallic paper. They will come with a black protective acid free presentation folder and placed in a spectacular brushed aluminum portfolio box. Each print will be signed and match-numbered. The set will also included a large full color booklet depicting each of the 12 images in the collection and be accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate of authentication."

"We are only producing 100 of the boxed sets," said Thawley, "and four of them will be presented at the American Le Mans Series Awards Banquet to each team owner from the winning car in the drivers' championship. That means only 96 sets will be available to the public."

The 2005 Collection, Champions captures all the action, color and excitement of the 2005 American Le Mans season. Crisscrossing North America, Thawley's photographs will allow you to relive the season for many years to come.
