INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 5 - Although listed on the participant roster, Scott Harrington and the Harrington Motorsports Dallara Aurora #66 are not participating in the Indy Racing League's open test today and tomorrow at Walt Disney World Speedway in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., because sponsorship for the team has not yet materialized. However, the reigning Sprint PCS Rookie of the Year still hopes to be able to compete in the Delphi Indy 200 at Walt Disney World Speedway Jan. 29.

Harrington Motorsports mechanics are busy prepping the car for the race in the team's new shop here at 10246 Old National Road. Team owner Gene Harrington and Scott are both hard at work trying to find a corporate marketing partner for the 2000 Indy Racing League season, which includes the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500, and nine other races from January through October.

To obtain more information, contact Gene Harrington at the team's office in Louisville, Ky., at (502) 363-3228. To reach Scott Harrington, use the new shop's temporary number of (317) 838-7693 until Jan. 15, when the permanent new number of (317) 837-9647 will take effect. The fax number after Jan. 15 will be (317) 837-9648.

Besides being the top rookie driver last year in the series, Scott Harrington is one of the most popular drivers on the IRL circuit. Despite the fact his team operated with one of the smallest budgets last year, Harrington finished in the top 10 in half of the events he competed in during 1999, with his best qualifying run being a fourth and his best finishes being a fifth and three sixths.
