Walker Racing Teams Up With Menard Engine Development For St. Louis

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 23, 2001 - Walker Racing's Indy Racing team will have a different set of horses under the hood of the #15 Walker Racing/Kroger/

Oldsmobile/Dallara/Firestone car for Sunday's inaugural Gateway Indy 250 in St. Louis, MO.

"We had a generous offer from Butch Meyer and the Menard Engine Development program for the St. Louis race," said owner Derrick Walker. "We're in the later part of the 2001 season and have been evaluating all aspects of our program, so this was an opportunity we needed to take advantage of, based on their winning history "

Menard Engines have won two Indy Racing Series Championships, nine races, and sat on 22 poles.

"We're very pleased to have Walker Racing and Sarah Fisher come on board with us," said Menard Engine Development General Manger Butch Meyer. "Derrick Walker and his team have an excellent reputation and team and we think we will be a good fit together."

Sarah and the Walker Racing team tested at Gateway International Raceway on July 31 and ran a total of 104 laps with a quick time of 27.28 seconds in anticipation of the Inaugural Gateway Indy 250 on Aug. 26. The race will be broadcast on ESPN at 3 p.m. (ET).
