INDY RACING LEAGUE ADDS GREEN, AGAN TO MEDIA STAFF

INDIANAPOLIS, March 3, 1999 - Veteran motorsports publicist Ron Green has been named manager of media relations for the Indy Racing League, league executive director Leo Mehl announced. In addition, Mehl announced that Beth Agan has joined the league as media coordinator. Green and Agan started in their new positions March 1. Green, 33, will be responsible for all facets of public and media relations regarding the Pep Boys Indy Racing League. He will serve as a league liaison with all teams, sponsors and racing facilities. He will report to Mehl and Mai Lindstrom, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indy Racing League director of public relations. "Working for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Pep Boys Indy Racing League is a great honor for me," Green said. "It is a period of monumental growth at the Speedway and for the league, and I'm eager to contribute to this growth." Green, a native of Beech Grove, Ind., comes to the Indy Racing League after a three-year tenure at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C., where he was director of public relations. Before working for the prominent Charlotte superspeedway, he served as director of public relations at Indianapolis Raceway Park, one of the nation's busiest multipurpose racing facilities, from 1995-96. Before joining the Indianapolis Raceway Park staff, Green served as a communications assistant at the United States Auto Club from 1992-94. He also worked as an information specialist for the Indiana House of Representatives, as a co-host of a weekly motorsports radio show in Indianapolis, and as a staff assistant and Midwest reporter for National Speed Sport News since his graduation from Ball State University with a degree in journalism in 1987. Green and his wife, Paige, reside in Indianapolis. "We are all very pleased to have someone with Ron's great experience join us," Mehl said. "His knowledge and enthusiasm will help us significantly as we continue to grow." Agan, 22, will assist Green in all Indy Racing League media programs. She has served as an intern in the Indy Racing League's public relations department since graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in May 1998 with a degree in marketing. She also performed internships with the public relations and marketing departments at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 1996-97. Agan, a native of Knoxville, Iowa, lives in Indianapolis.
