INDIANAPOLIS, Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 - Veteran motorsports publicist Ashleigh Higgins has been named manager of media relations for the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series. She assumed her duties with the new open-wheel racing series Jan. 3.
Higgins joins the Infiniti Pro Series after successful stints with several race teams. She most recently served as director of public relations for Cheever Indy Racing and before that worked in communications for the PacWest Racing Group and the Brian Stewart Racing Indy Lights team.
Prior to working in the motorsports industry, Higgins was an English teacher in her hometown of Toronto and a communications instructor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.
"Ashleigh will be an asset to the Indy Racing League and Infiniti Pro Series," said Roger Bailey, executive director of the Infiniti Pro Series. "She has developed a solid reputation with the media who cover the Indy Racing League, and she has motorsports PR experience at multiple levels."
The Infiniti Pro Series is scheduled to debut July 7, 2002, at Kansas Speedway. The developmental series, featuring open-wheel cars with 450-horsepower Infiniti Q45-brand V8 engines, is targeting seven races for its inaugural season. Races will take place on the same weekend as Indy Racing events.
