May 14, 2001 (Toronto, Ont.) -- Berman Motorsport Group Inc., promoters of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship, and Imperial Oil, makers of Esso brand gasoline, jointly announced today that Esso will supply the "Official and Spec Fuel" of The Canadian Formula Ford Championship presented by Deringer. Esso's premium 92 octane fuel will power Canada's next generation of racing stars at all events on the 2001 and 2002 calendar.

"Imperial Oil is excited to be involved with the series," said Ted Nickerson, Automotive Forecourt Manager, Imperial Oil. "Like Imperial Oil, the Canadian Formula Ford Championship has strong roots and a rich history in Canada, so the series is a natural fit for the Esso brand. The series has developed some of Canada's top racing talents, and Imperial Oil is proud to support these young drivers as they move up the racing ladder to the top levels of international motorsport. Imperial Oil will create a new series award, offering cash prizes at each race and a trophy and grand prize at the end of the season."

"We're glad to welcome Imperial Oil aboard," said Gerry Kessner, VP Sales and Marketing, BMG. "The Esso brand will be a welcome partner as the series begins its 12th consecutive season. Our new national TV package and schedule of high profile events will help deliver the message that Canada's fastest cars and drivers are powered by the same fuel available at your local Esso service station."

Imperial Oil joins current series sponsors Ford of Canada, A.N. Deringer customs brokers and freight forwarders, Hankook Tire, Shields Condoms, Auto Sport Basi racing school and Cardinal Watches.

The Canadian Formula Ford Championship presented by Deringer begins the 2001 season at Mosport International Raceway, with a race scheduled for Sunday, May 20 at 3:15 p.m. For tickets call 1-800-866-1072 or see http://www.mosport.com/tickets.htm. <pre> 2001 SCHEDULE
