The Home Depot Renews its Official NASCAR Status
ATLANTA (Jan. 2, 2002) - Since 1999, The Home Depot has been known as the Official Home Improvement Warehouse of NASCAR. It is a title that will continue through 2004, as The Home Depot has extended its status as an official NASCAR sponsor for another three years.
"Our official status has opened the door for us to work with some companies that we don't traditionally do business with, such as Coca-Cola, General Motors and MBNA," said Dick Sullivan, senior vice president of marketing and advertising for The Home Depot. "We've seen first hand the brand loyalty that NASCAR fans have made famous, which made our decision to extend our relationship with NASCAR an easy one."
"The Home Depot is a perfect example of a company leveraging its NASCAR involvement to the fullest extent possible," said Brett Yormark, vice president of corporate marketing for NASCAR. "Their team sponsorship of Tony Stewart and Joe Gibbs Racing augments the company's status as the Official Home Improvement Warehouse of NASCAR. The Home Depot has activated their sponsorship extremely well in our sport since 1999, the year they were named marketing partner of the year. We look forward to furthering The Home Depot's marketing initiatives in the years to come."
