Heartland Park Topeka Announces Staff Promotions

TOPEKA, Kansas -- Bill Griffin, formerly the Director of Sales and Marketing, has been named Heartland Park Topeka General Manager by owner Raymond Irwin.

Chris Bovis, who had been the Director of Event Development, will assume Griffin's responsibilities as Director of Marketing in addition to retaining his role in Event Development.

"The moves for Chris and Bill were necessitated by the continued development of Heartland Park Topeka into a professional racing and entertainment business," said Irwin.

"The assignment of Bill Griffin as General Manager was a natural and logical move; placing the most experienced and capable person on the staff into the most responsible position. Transfer of the marketing responsibilities to Chris Bovis was also a natural and logical move as that position draws directly on Chris' skills learned at Clear Channel Entertainment."

Griffin has been with Heartland Park Topeka since Irwin purchased the facility in March of 2003. Griffin has a background in sales, spending 16 years with the Coca Cola Bottling Co., two years with KMAJ and KTOP radio of Topeka, and three as Sales Director for the Kansas Lottery.

"The real strength of Heartland Park Topeka is the team of dedicated people that work so hard to improve this facility day in and day out," said Griffin.

"I am pleased and honored to accept this role within team HPT and hope that I may help our team continue to achieve our goals and reach Raymond and Nancy's vision of Heartland Park Topeka."

Bovis joined Heartland Park Topeka in the spring of 2004. Prior to Heartland Park Topeka, Bovis handled marketing and promotions for Clear Channel Entertainment-Motor Sports, an Aurora, IL based motor sports and live event promotions company. Bovis also worked for Yokohama Tire Corporation handling corporate accounts and special event marketing after graduating from Butler University with a degree in marketing.

"I look forward to the opportunities and challenges of building upon the strong foundation that is Heartland Park Topeka today," said Bovis.
