BECHTELSVILLE, PA FEBRUARY 15, 2001 . . . Continuing a strong relationship that goes hack several years, Grandview Speedway, one of the nation's most successful dirt short track operations, has agreed to continue their sanctioning agreement with NASCAR (National Association For Stock Car Auto Racing).
"The NASCAR name is important to the speedway and our racers in their efforts to secure marketing partners. Everyone is familiar with NASCAR. And the insurance coverage offered our competitors by NASCAR is second to none and is a major reason for us to continue to be a partner with NASCAR," said track owner Bruce Rogers.
The 2001 season at Grandview Speedway will kick off with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 31, 12 noon. This will give racers (modifieds, sportsman, late models, midgets, sprints and others) an opportunity to test the new equipment before the season officially gets the green flag.
And on Saturday, April 7, 5 p.m., a tripleheader of NASCAR Modifieds and NASCAR Late Models will be featured along with PA Sportsman as the 39th consecutive season of professional stock car racing kicks off. Modified champion Jeff Strunk and Late Model champion Dean Stoudt have both indicated they will return to defend their track championships.
"It is great to see NASCAR and Grandview Speedway continue their long relationship. We are all looking forward to making our partnership work even better than it has in the past. We are excited about the new season," said Ernie Saxton, the track marketing director. "And we do have some exciting promotional activities planned for the next season including, of course the chance for fans to win a ride in the new Grandview Speedway two seat modified on Saturday nights."
For those who have not received their NASCAR license renewal forms or are in need of license forms, please be in touch with the speedway office at 610.754.7688. Representatives of the speedway will also be in attendance at the Reading Racers Reunion Mall Show at the Reading, PA Fairgrounds Mall from Sunday, February 25 through March 3.
