FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 14, 2000) - Speedway senior publicist Gary Guehler has been promoted to Manager of Short Track Operations. In his new role, Guehler will be responsible for all short track activity at the speedway, including all races at the new Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Guehler, who joined the speedway public relations department in 1996 when the speedway was still under construction, will begin his new role immediately.

"Gary has an extensive background in motorsports," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "We needed someone who really understands short track racing and his knowledge and experience with short track series such as the Pennzoil World of Outlaws and Legends Cars make him a good fit for the position."

In his new role, Guehler will interface with both local and national short track series, working to bring a variety of racing to the speedway. He will be responsible for activity on the new 4/10-mile Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, the 1/5-mile paved Lil' Texas Motor Speedway, the 1/4-mile paved oval inside the 1.5-mile superspeedway and the soon-to-be-constructed infield road course. Series already scheduled include: the Pennzoil World of Outlaws and Hav-A-Tampa Late Models on the dirt track; the American Le Mans and BFGoodrich Trans-Am series on the new infield road course; and the Legends Car series which will continue to run on the 1/4-mile paved oval inside the 1.5-mile speedway as well at Lil' Texas Motor Speedway.

Guehler is a former media relations director for the Pennzoil World of Outlaws as well as a staff writer for the National Speed Sport News, a weekly motorsports publication.

He lives in The Colony, Texas with his wife Sherrie and their four children.
