SPARTANBURG, SC - The CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open, "Drag Racing's Official Cabin Fever Reliever", will be partnered in a strategic marketing program with Flatout Decals (www.flatoutdecals.com), which will be the official signage provider for the quickly progressing preseason test event to be held on March 8 -11 at Virginia Motorsports Park. Recently, the CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open was named as the IHRA's official pre-season test event, although any racer regardless of sanction is encouraged to attend.
Flatout Decals, directed by Mark Adelizzi, are known for their prowess with decal designs as well as also providing the signage for IHRA national events. They will not only design participant decals for the event, but also will also provide the signage and design the traditional A-board for the CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open.
Adelizzi stands plenty excited about being aligned with such an eagerly awaited event.
"Flatout Decals is proud to be associated with this prestigious event and we expect that it is going to be a great show that will be the perfect opening to the 2001 season," explained Adelizzi. "Specialty Banners, Signs, Racecar & Trailer Graphics are all our specialties at Flatout Decals. Many IHRA professional and sportsman racers are taking advantage of our unique services, so it makes good business sense to become involved with such an event. I look forward to working with the great people at Virginia Motorsports Park as well as at CompetitionPlus.com. We will do our very best to provide them with the best decals and signs that can be made. I think this event is going to be a blast."
This event will be hosted by Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, Va., and sponsored by Drag Racing's largest electronic Internet-based magazine CompetitionPlus.com.
This unique event will feature everything from fire-spewing Top Fuel dragsters to the high-speed Pro Modifieds to various sportsman entries in test mode. There will be a special Chicago style eliminations program on Saturday in the professional divisions in exchange for the test time.
Sportsman racers can either test on a daily basis or can attain a special event package depending on what best suits their schedule.
Pre-entry for the event is encouraged. For more information on this procedure, please refer to http://www.ihra.com/news/2000december/14spring_open.html for all questions and the proper format in which to pre-enter.
This major testing event will fill the weekend formerly reserved for the Winter Nationals in Darlington, SC. It will provide the staff at Virginia Motorsports Park with an opportunity to meet and greet its new IHRA family. In late-June of 2000, VMP announced the switch of sanctions and will host its first IHRA Summit Drag Racing Series event in April 20 - 22, 2001.
Virginia Motorsports Park is a state of the art facility built in 1994 encompassing 700 acres. The drag strip is concrete the first 675 feet of the mile long track. VMP is located 25 minutes south of Richmond off of I-85.
