DUBLIN, OH (February 11, 2000) -TrueSports, Inc., owner and operator of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, announced today Firstar will join the track as a new sponsor for the 2000 season. This sponsorship announcement is a result of the strategic alliance formed in July 1999 between IMG Motorsports and TrueSports, Inc., for IMG to provide sales and marketing support to the 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course in Lexington, Ohio.
"Firstar is a tremendous new addition to our growing list of corporate sponsors," TrueSports, Inc., president Michelle Trueman Gajoch said. "Firstar has proven itself to be a strong and dedicated supporter of sporting events throughout Ohio. We look forward to working with Firstar to expand its awareness with Mid-Ohio race fans as well as its target audiences regionally."
Firstar becomes the "official financial institution of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course." Firstar will receive trackside signage, ATM rights, and logo placement on all Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course publications, promotional materials and print advertising. Additionally, one of the permanent grandstands at the end of the backstraight will now be designated the Firstar Grandstand.
Firstar currently is title sponsor of the Firstar LPGA Classic in Beavercreek, Ohio, and the Firstar Center in Cincinnati, and is the presenting sponsor of the CART-sanctioned Grand Prix of Cleveland.
"This new relationship with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course offers us visibility at another of Ohio's premier sports properties," stated Executive Vice President and Chairman of Firstar Northern Ohio Andy Randall. "Firstar's affiliation with Mid-Ohio provides us an opportunity to partner with a world-class organization in supporting a number of fan-friendly events presented in Mid-Ohio's park-like setting."
Firstar, with 720 full-service banking offices in Ohio, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Tennessee and Arizona, was recently recognized nationally for its quality services. American Banker, a daily financial news publication, ranked Firstar as the top performing bank in the United States in 1998.
