Kyle Drum Captures ESS "Rookie of the Year" Honors; Prepares to Fly High in 2002 With U.S. Air Force

Kyle Drum, the 17-year-old rookie sensation of the Empire Super Sprints Series was recently named as the series' "Rookie of the Year." Kyle had an outstanding freshman season with the series, becoming the youngest winner in ESS history, as he took the checkers at Brockville Speedway. The young driver strung together consistent finishes to place eleventh in the series' points battle, having seven top-five and ten top-ten marks.

Kyle's stellar season didn't stop when the racing ended, as the Drum Motorsports team recently signed a marketing partnership agreement with the U.S. Air Force. The military branch looks to use Kyle and his #47 J&J/Enders powered ride as a marketing tool for the northeastern United States. The team will travel to New York state high schools and recruiting events in the area to promote recruitment into the United States Air Force. In addition to the newly signed U.S. Air Force marketing agreement, Drum Motorsports currently holds a marketing agreement with Speed Racer Enterprises, of Santa Monica, California.

"I am thrilled about the agreement," Rubicon Promotions & Marketing driver Kyle Drum recently stated. " I think that I can assist the Air Force in their recruiting efforts, as the age group they're trying to reach is one that I myself am a part of. In this time of war, I am proud to carry the U.S. Air Force logo on my car, as well as the red, white, and blue of our country."

Plans to create a merchandise line featuring Kyle Drum and the U.S. Air Force are currently being solidified. T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, decals, and other apparel items are expected, as well as some novelty items featuring a patriotic theme. The new apparel line will be available for sale directly from the team's website, www.kyledrum.com. Speedracer.com merchandise is currently for sale from the website as well.

For the 2002 season, Drum Motorsports is looking forward to making a run at the ESS Series title. The team will also be competing at the East Bay Winter Nationals in February, as well as at some other national events throughout the season. Kyle is also going to test his skill in selected All Star Circuit of Champions events throughout the season.
