NORTHLANDS SUPPORTS COMMUNITY-FOCUSED ARENA SOLUTION FOR EDMONTON

EDMONTON, AB -- As an integral partner in Edmonton's new arena discussions, and as the owner and operator of Rexall Place, Northlands is pleased to provide a perspective on the Katz Group's downtown sports and entertainment district update. The organization sees this as an opportunity for Edmonton to use this kind of sports and entertainment complex as a means to build the vision for the city. Northlands also announced today that Chair of the Board, Andy Huntley, will act as primary community and media spokesperson regarding ongoing arena discussions.

"As always, our focus is on doing what's right for Edmonton," said Northlands Board Chair, Andy Huntley. "As we work to move the arena solution forward within the broader development project, we will be looking at what meets the needs of the community now and in the future." Huntley added, "Northlands will continue to play a leadership role in the pivotal next steps of this process and we will continue our ongoing discussion and consultation with key stakeholders including the Katz Group, the City of Edmonton and the Government of Alberta."

Active in his community, Mr. Huntley has served as a board member for the Capital Health Authority and the Greater Edmonton Foundation. He has been a trustee for the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation, and was a founding director of the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Huntley also served as a member of the Mayor's Leadership Committee for a New Sports/Entertainment Facility for Edmonton.

As a community-based organization, Northlands is proud of its long association with professional hockey in Edmonton. As Huntley expands, "Northlands had the vision to build an arena complex that would bring professional hockey to Edmonton, while providing a venue that would also support a broad spectrum of entertainment for our city. We have been an integral partner in the success and sustainability of NHL hockey in Edmonton."

Rexall Place, owned and operated by Northlands, has earned a reputation as one of the best arena venues in the world -- rated 12 in the world and third in Canada by Pollstar Magazine in 2007. The venue was host to 47 headliner concerts and over 100 events in 2008, and its reputation as a leading international venue assists Edmonton in attracting world-class events.
