SPARTANBURG, SC -- Drag racing's newest Internet magazine debuted Wednesday at 7 PM and it did so successfully. The latest product from Harley Communications stands on a road for success and that could be a positive for the entire Drag Racing industry. Executive Editor Bobby Bennett was overwhelmed by the opening success.
"We sincerely hope that it's not a case of just a quick reaction time and smoking the tires at mid-track," explained Bennett. "We have put together what we feel is a true magazine, just online. When people hear the term website, immediately they think a complete press release forum. That's not the case here, we are a true bi-weekly magazine that carries feature stories, complete race coverage, tech features and what everyone wants the most, dirt. My staff has tirelessly worked to help me put this thing together. I'm just the driver that gets all the credit, but the reality is -- they are the crew and I couldn't do it without them."
The first issue, with a cover date of September 15, has such stories as an expose' of IHRA Pro Stock racing, the ongoing debate of the swing-arm versus the four-link, Mike Castellana's swing-arm chassied, nitrous-Pro Modified, sportsman drag racing phenoms Anthony & Malinda Bertozzi and most importantly full coverage of the IHRA Parts Pro North American Nationals in Epping, NH., three days after the event's completion. Competition Plus also features guest editorials from the sport's top professional drivers and the latest news and inside happenings within the drag racing community. An interactive bulletin board is also in place.
The next issue is scheduled for September 30th, featuring a cover story on Rockingham Dragway as well as complete race coverage of the IHRA CARQUEST Autumn Nationals presented by Prolong. The innovative Top Doorslammer class from down under in Australia will also be profiled.
