Howard Dawson has been appointed interim Chief Executive of the Lola group of companies with immediate effect, taking over from David Bowes who is resigning from the company as at the end of August to take up another role. A replacementwill be appointed in due course.
Dawson, 42, is already a director of Lola and Joint Managing Director of Peer Group plc, Martin Birrane's London-based property company. Already known to many in motor sport because of his Directorship at Mondello Park International Racing Circuit in Ireland, Dawson is also on the Board of BMP, the company which promotes race meetings and championships, including the BTCC, F3 and British GT at all the UK's top circuits.
Dawson joins the Lola group as it completes its integration of composites company, CTS Limited, and is entering the Formula Three market with its joint venture with Dome, and as its 675 Lola sports car finds more customers in the USA, as well as expanding its defence and telecommunications composites work, and its extreme sports businesses, including racing rowing boats.
Dawson said: "In this interim period, Iwill continue the development of Lola Cars International Ltd as a major force in each of its markets and ensure that we meet the objectives set for us. There are many talented people here in Huntingdon and I look forward to starting work immediately. I have known David since he joined Lola in 1998 and we will work together over the coming weeks to ensure an effective handover."
Bowes said: "I have greatly enjoyed the last four years at Lola. I feel that wehave all achieved much success together; it has been a difficult decision to resign and pursue a new challenge. However, I am confident that the current team will continue to see many more successes at Lola in the future."
