Honda Indy 300 Chief Executive Officer, Mr Geoff Jones, has announced that Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) would be extending its existing contract with the Event till 2005, taking the association to a record 15-year term.

CUB has been the official beer, wine & cider product for the Honda Indy 300 since it's inception. Included in the sponsorship is naming rights to the Fosters Beach Chicane, an overpass on the Beach Esses and various track signage.

The extension of contract will make the partnership between the Honda Indy 300 and CUB one of the longest running in Australian sport.

The agreement cements the confidence CUB has in the long-term success of the Honda Indy 300, according to Mr Jones.

"We are very pleased to continue our association with the team at Carlton & United Breweries," Mr Jones said.

"Entertainment and celebration are what the Honda Indy 300 is about and concepts CUB is synonymous with. We look forward to working with CUB to 2006 and beyond."

Gold Coast Motor Events Co, a joint-venture partnership between International Management Group (IMG) and the Queensland Government, has a contract to run sanctioned CART events on the streets of Surfers Paradise until 2003 with a further three year option.

Carlton & United Breweries General manager Queensland, Mr Steve McRoberts, said he was delighted to continue the long and healthy relationship with the Honda Indy 300.

"We have been with Indy from day one and seen it grow and we can only see further strength in the event," said Mr McRoberts.

"Indy is now recognised as one of the major events on the Australian sporting calendar.

"As THE Australian beer company we are proud to support the Honda Indy 300 and be in a position to enjoy everything it offers to our brands and our customers."

This year's Honda Indy 300 is the penultimate round of the FedEx Championship Series and will be hosted on the streets of the Gold Coast October 25-28.

Tickets are available through Ticketek outlets around Australia on 1300 303 103 or at www.indy.com.au.
