CARA Charities and Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Help Texas Hospital "Buckle Up"

CARA Charities and the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund presented a $2,500 check to Cook's Children Hospital during pre-race ceremonies for Sunday's Firestone Firehawk 600 Presented by Pioneer at Texas Motor Speedway. The donation was made to the Fort Worth hospital as part of CARA's ongoing "Buckle Up Baby" infant car seat donation program. The funds are designated to be used to provide infant car seats to needy families in the Fort Worth area.

Since 1993, when CARA Charities introduced the "Buckle Up Baby" program, over $385,000 has been donated to children's hospitals and clinics all over North America. In July 2000, CARA Charities was awarded the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Buckle Up America Champion Award in recognition of the "Buckle Up Baby" program.

"We became involved with CARA Charities and the "Buckle Up Baby" project three years ago," said Al Speyer, Motorsports Director of Bridgestone/Firestone. "It is very rewarding for us to know there are hundreds of children now riding more safely in car seats we helped provide. This project, in addition to providing free seats, is also doing an excellent job providing information about using the seats. We are hopeful this heightened awareness about the importance of using car seats will encourage parents to use then whenever there's an infant or small child in the vehicle."

Founded in 1981, CARA Charities has distributed over $3.25 million to numerous racing and community organizations.
