#55 Davis & Weight Ford to Carry BSLA Hood Decal at Kentucky
DAVIDSON, North Carolina - June 11, 2001 - Davis and Weight Motorsports will run the logo of the Busch Series Ladies Association (BSLA) during this weekend's NASCAR Busch Series inaugural race at Kentucky Speedway. The #55 Davis & Weight Motorsports Ford is driven by Mark Green, a native of Owensboro, Kentucky. His wife, Cathy, is currently the Vice President of the BSLA.
"This is a great way for us to support both Mark and Cathy," commented team owner, Jerry Davis. "Even though we've made plans to compete in Winston Cup later this season, the inaugural race at Kentucky was simply too significant for us to miss. We want Mark to come to his home state and make a great showing in front of his fans."
"We want to combine that desire to win with an opportunity to help the BSLA," Davis continued. "The more people who become familiar with what they are about and the work that they do, the more they will be able to assist the racing community."
"We're honored the #55 Davis & Weight team will 'fly our colors' this weekend," stated BSLA president, Julie Markham. "It's a great way for us to reach out to a new group of race fans attending the first NBS race at Kentucky. Last year, we donated over $40,000 to those in need, including members of the NBS family and several charitable organizations."
The BSLA, founded in 1996, works to promote the sport of stock car racing through its programs of assistance and support for all Busch Series families.
This effort includes raising funds to provide financial help for all race participants suffering injury or tragedy. To learn more information about the organization, be sure to log on to www.buschladies.com.
The "Outback Steakhouse 300" will be broadcast live on FX and on MRN radio. The race begins at 7:30 pm EDT.
