BBS Wheels Dominates 2007 Motorsports Season
From Indy to LeMans, BBS Led Victory Laps Around the World
Braselton, GA (December 20, 2007) - BBS of America, a leader in the design and manufacturing of limited-volume, high-performance wheels, accompanies more champions across the race track finish line than any other wheel company. For 2007, many of the world's leading drivers again relied on BBS wheels to help bring them to the victory podium, with major championship and race wins resulting in numerous new entries in the BBS motorsports victory ledger. But, while triumphs like winning the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of LeMans, the 2007 IndyRacing League, the 2007 ChampCar World Series Championship and hundreds of additional podium finishes all add to BBS' legendary track record, the real benefit is that the company's 37 years of competition expertise is crafted into every BBS road wheel.
Winning Races Across the Globe
The 2007 racing seasons again saw BBS dominating on the track, bringing home an impressive list of series championships to add to its already legendary record. BBS' 2007 series victories included the following: the Formula 1 Championship; the IRL Championship; the ChampCar World Series Championship; the Grand-Am Rolex DP Championship; the Grand-Am Rolex GT Championship; the ALMS LMP2 Championship; the ALMS GT1 Championship; the ALMS GT2 Championship; the ChampCar Atlantic Championship; the Formula Mazda Championship; and the Porsche GT-3 Challenge Cup.
In addition to its many series championships, BBS also took the checkered flag in some of the world's most prominent individual track events. BBS' 2007 racing highlights included wins at this year's Indianapolis 500; the 24 Hours of LeMans; the 24 Hours of Daytona; the 12 Hours of Sebring; the Petit LeMans; the 24 Hours of Nurburgring; the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of Zolder.
From Race Track to Everyday Driving
Whenever a stretch of asphalt calls for "race" mode, BBS wheels provide the most technically advanced and proven foundation for wringing the most out of a car's performance potential. It is just one reason why demanding racing teams like Andretti Green Racing and racing icons like Michael Schumacher choose BBS wheels.
The knowledge gained from BBS' decades of racing wins translates into every BBS' product made, including wheels such as the BBS Gold LM-R aftermarket wheel for select BMW, Lexus and Porsche models. The LM-R wheel represents yet another industry-first, utilizing BBS' patented "back-milling" process that lightens and optimizes the wheel center's strength and weight. The LM-R wheel is the first road wheel to use the back-milling process, a direct development from BBS' forged racing wheels.
"Every race, whether it is in F1, IRL or Paris-to-Dakar, is a test bed for the next generation of BBS products," says John Slagle, Director of Motorsports and Engineering, BBS of America. "In 2008, BBS will be accelerating our new product development, and we look forward to bringing even more race-proven technology from the winner's podium to the street."
