AC DELCO ICEMAN SERIES PROMOTER RETIRES by Debi Domby Southgate, Michigan

Sonny Adams, after 13 years of promoting the AC Delco Iceman Series, has stepped down. Adams, who started the series as the Toledo 400 series in 1987 has retired. Jim Hennessy has taken over as promoter starting immediately.

AC Delco, who has been the traveling series title sponsor for the past four years will continue their involvement in the year 2000.

Because of the change in management, only six race dates have been confirmed so far for the 2000 season. The Iceman series will race at Toledo Speedway on May 12 and July 2; Central Pennsylvania Speedway (formerly Clearfield Mountain Speedway) May 27 and July 28 and Winchester Speedway will host the traveling circuit on Aug. 19 and Sept. 3. All races will be 100 laps long. Negotiations are under way with Mansfield and Sandusky Speedways for additional dates.

Response from the series’ veteran drivers on the change of management has been positive. It appears that there will be a bumper crop of drivers running for the 2000 Rookie of the year.
