Edoardo Piscopo retains Auto GP lead after Spa-Francorchamps

Edoardo Piscopo retained his lead in the 2010 Auto GP championship after the fourth round of the championship at Spa-Francorchamps. On the legendary Belgian venue, the 22-year-old driver from Rome cruised to a double points finish despite some early trouble, as he fought back in a reasoned way during the two reaces. After having cruised to 6th place on Race 1, he battled tire wear issues to end up in 4th on Race 2, topping his main rivals in standings. Thanks to the weekend's results, Piscopo still leads, with a 3-point margin over Luca Filippi. The focus has now been set on the next round of Auto GP, set for July 10, 11 at the French Magny-Cours venue.

"It's been a troubled weekend for me, but I tried to get the best out of it also thanks to the DAMS guys. I paid the price of some difficulties in adapting to the track, which requires a lot of experience to be tamed. In addition to that, qualifying was shortened to 18 minutes, and I was able to turn just one flying lap. From that point on, I decided to race in a clever way, avoiding any kind of mistake to maximize my chances to score points. I ended up with 6 more points, that allowed me to keep the lead in standings. Now I'm focusing on the next round at Magny-Cours. I raced there just with the Formula 3 Euro Series, but I'm confident we'll perform like in Brno and Imola."
