Edoardo Piscopo keeps leading Auto GP standings after Magny-Cours

After four out of six races in the 2010 Auto GP, Edoardo Piscopo successfully retained the lead in the Championship's standings at Magny-Cours. The Italian racer was able to overturn a difficult weekend start at the French venue, fighting with an huge oversteer condition. While he ended up race 1 in 7th place, thanks to the reversed grid format he was able to take off from the front row. Edoardo then managed to finish on the podium, scoring some really well-timed points and retaining 1st place overall. The next round of the series is set for the end of September, on brand-new Navarra racetrack.

"Coming out of the Imola crash, we replaced the chassis and I found myself dealing with an huge oversteer. In qualifying, with the wet track, it was almost impossible. I started at the back of the pack, and while the race was compromised, I fought my way back up.

"After clinching 7th on race 1, I did a slight mistake at the start of Race 2, but I eventually ended up on the podium. I knew that Grosjean was out, so points were everything and I avoided to put them in jeopardy with some risky attempts. All in all, and considering how it started, I'm happy to leave Magny-Cours with the championship lead still in my pocket.

"Now, thanks to some spare time before the next round, we'll have time to re-organize, do some testing, and fix the issues had during the last few races. Romain is really hard as a rival, with an huge experience behind his shoulders, but I want to keep fighting until the end"
