BONANOMI PUTS HIS MARK ON RACE 1

FMSI WINS IN THE TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP

Marco Bonanomi is the first king of Rome in the 2009 Euroseries 3000 by PartyPoker Racing. The italian driver, indeed, won the first race in Vallelunga, a succes with which he takes back the championship lead, with a two points gap on Fabio Onidi.

Bonanomi has built his win right from the start, when he was able to overtake the slow starting Fabio Crestani thundering right on Will Bratt's tail. The english poleman was author of a good start, but that wasn't enough to keep him safe from Bonanomi's attack.

Marco tried the inside at the Cimini corner, succeeded in the pass and took the lead. Behind the field was hot, with Crestani passed by Onidi and Rodolfo Gonzalez: the venezuelan had a good start but he made contact with Fabio, damaging the car and slipping back in eight position.

The clashing cars caused a bit of confusion in the group, splitting it in two parts: Bonanomi, Bratt and Onidi ahead and the, with a gap of nearly 4", Crestani, Ben Hanley, Juan Carlos Sistos, Francesco Dracone and Gonzalez.

From then on, the race was very tactical, with the three lead drivers divided by only half of a second. Behind them, the most exciting duel was the one between Crestani and Hanley; in the first laps the two were very close, but TP Formula's italian driver managed to lap in the same times of the lead pack, like he did all the weekend, and in the end he was able to pull away from the Team Costa Rica driver securing 4th place.

Meanwhile, in the lead, Bonanomi started rising the pace on lap 9, slowly building a gap on Will Bratt which eventually reached 1"5. This happened while Onidi was experiencing tyre problems, slowly losing contact with the leading duo.

Bratt's choice was to wait until the last five laps to try the final forcing. He managed to clinch the fastest lap (and the resulting extra point) and to cut the gap to 0"5, anyway not close enough to try an overtaking manoeuvre. So, the final classification was unchanged, with Bonanomi 1st followed by Bratt, Onidi, Crestani, Hanley, Sistos, Dracone and Gonzales. This meant also that Fisichella Motorsport International is the Champion team of the 2009 Euroseries 3000 by PartyPoker Racing. With 112 points the FMSI team has a 48 points advantage on the EmiliodeVillota.com team, a gap that can't be filled with three races to go. DRIVERS QUOTES

Marco Bonanomi: "I'very happy about my start, i managed to overtake Crestani and that was vital to the following pass on Bratt. I tried the inside in the Cimini corner and it was a good and fair pass. At the end I had to slow a bit due to some fuel pump issues, but it was nothing important".

Will Bratt: "I believe that if I managed to stay in front at the start I could have won, so I'm not happy. I had a good start but Marco's one was better, that's the difference. Then, in the Cimini corner I decided not to close the door because I thought that it was too far to try a pass. I was wrong. Anyway ten points are very good for the championship."

Fabio Onidi: "I had a good start, I passed Crestani but then Gonzalez crashed into me from behind, luckily without any damage. I thought that my race could be more aggressive but I had to face some tyres problems after the first half. I had too much oversteer so i decided to keep my third place safe for the championship".
