Fifth place For Gabriele Lancieri's season debut in Euro 3000 Series.
After a few months away from the track, Gabriele Lancieri returned to the Monza track on board the Uboldi Corse team car in the Euro 3000 series.
Gabriele didn't have any physical problems but encountered a few mechanical inconveniences which influenced his qualifying session. In fact, the driver from Imola was limited to the 12th place. It was a great start and a ood race for Lancieri who conquered a satisfying fifth place regardless of the car that wasn't in its tip top shape.
"The qualifications weren't very satisfying. Unfortunately a problem with the shock absorbers conditioned the car and my speed throughout the whole session. On the straights, my single seater lost 10/12 Kmh. Moreover, when entering and exiting the curve, the car behaved abnormally. We managed to fix the problem but by that time there was no time left to get back on track and so I had to suffice with the 12th place.
The start was fantastic: at the end of the first lap, I inherited the sixth place. After that I kept the same rhythm without making any mistakes: after all the car wasn't at its top. We had some technical problems that penalized us above all with the speed. On a fast track like Monza we can't afford to give away Kmh to the adversaries.
At a certain point during the race when I was in fifth place, I slowed down when the yellow flags were out. Right at that moment I was overtaken by Pastorelli who was later penalized for this action. I conquered the fifth place and this satisfies me because this was the team's and my season debut with a car that has yet to be at its finest."
