The autumn is come by now in Donington Park : infact today a heavy rain stopped the 6th race of Superfund-Euro3000 Series after 21 laps. After a break of fifteen minutes to change the tyres, the cars were back on the grid and the race resumed under the safety car for a restart distance of 23 laps. The order of arrival will be calculated on the basis of the aggregate times.
When they come to the pits, the Draco drivers are carrying out a very good race : Nicky Pastorelli is in second position and
Fausto Ippoliti, who's is catching up, he is 9th. In the second half of race, the Roman driver does one's very best and, gaining one second for lap, he recovers in 6th place : a fantastic comeback from the seventh row!
Instead, at the restart, the italo-Dutch driver Pastorelli, in the driving rain, he decides to slow down. From the pits, the Team informs him that he's keeping the 3th position - as the box screens show - and Pastorelli, who's in the running for the title, he preferes, in accordance with the Team, making his race and not to take any risks.
On the circuit times'screens, Nicky Pastorelli is remained in 3th position a long time, then, he finished fourth.
At the end of the race, Draco J.Team celebrates the good comeback of Ippoliti and the 3 precious points of the Dutchman.
Two hours later, the time-keepers declare their mistake : Pastorelli isn't 4th, but 5th. A bad surprise, because the Draco driver made a defensive race, on the basis of the pit communications, to conservate his position and the points, very important now, four races to the end.
Follow the Draco comments :
Nadia Morini, Financial Director : "A challenging race, of course! During the second half of race, we saw Nicky in 3th position and , toward the end, he was 4th. When the drivers crossed the finish line, the Team was satisfied with this result. Fausto too, he made a fantastic race. But then, the bitter new. I think that, without this mistake, Nicky could have kept the 4th place. This is a tricky moment of the championship, we can't lose precious points. Moreover, Nicky is reducing the gap with his direct opponent, and now we have to work for Dijon."
Nicky Pastorelli : " I left the circuit content with the 4th position, but then.I don't want to dwell up on the time-keepers mistake, I have to keep on with my work. I have to continue my climb, the championship title is my objective. "
Fausto Ippoliti : "I'm very happy for my comeback, but Mr.Morini reproach me for my problem in qualifying. I made a good race, but I have to improve in qualifiyng, it's important to start from the first rows. All my team is satisfied with the gained point, everybody helps and supports me, I feel good!"
