Strong Showing in Utah for Walker Racing
Indianapolis, IN (September 23, 2008)- Walker Racing drivers, Greg Mansell, Leo Mansell, and Kevin Lacroix, had another strong performance in Utah this past weekend. All three pilots had a solid performance at the Miller Motorsports Park facility, proving they are continuing to gain more experience each time they get behind the cockpit of their Atlantic chassis.
Greg Mansell (#5 Sunseeker) maintained his roll for a consecutive third time this weekend as he scored his third top-10 result of the season. The rookie qualified eighth, lost a position on the start and brought the car home in a solid ninth place. The 20 year-old had his career best finish of seventh place at New Jersey and ninth at Trois-Rivieres.
Leo Mansell (#15 Sunseeker) also had a promising weekend. With each time he gets behind the wheel, the 23 year-old gains more and more experience and gets a better feel of the car. The Brit qualified and finished in 16th position.
Lacroix, driver of the #25 Uni-Select/Deans Knight/Wasteco machine, qualified tenth. The Canadian had a quick car, but unfortunately wasn't able overtake to show its true potential. Lacroix was also the victim of unfortunate circumstances. In the start, he was having trouble with his clutch causing him to jump the start, thus resulting in a penalty where he had to give up a position to James Hinchcliffe. The 19 year-old finished 11th.
Walker Racing heads back to their Indianapolis based headquarters as they prepare for the final round of the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta, September 30th - October 1st. For more updates on the team please visit www.walkerracing.com.
What Walker Racing had to say...
Derrick Walker, Walker Racing Owner: "We had a pretty good weekend. Miller Motorsports Park is a great facility, but unfortunately it doesn't allow you to improve your position and overtake. For the race, it was all about qualifying. We had good racecars, we just weren't able to showcase them with the ability to be able to pass. Greg made a great start and brought the car home to a solid ninth place result, and Leo had a good steady run the entire race. Kevin jumped the start in the beginning and was penalized, costing him a position. Overall, the guys executed the best that they could."
