Transnet Racing forms new 2002 team

ATLANTA, February 14, 2002 -- The formation of Transnet Racing to compete in the 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic Championship was announced today in Atlanta, Georgia by Greg Sorrentino, Team Manager. Mr. Sorrentino previously operated "Different Drummer Racing" which throughout the late 80's and early `90s competed in IMSA and SCCA events. Transnet Racing will be headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

The driver for the team is Venezuelan, Alex Garcia originally from Caracas. Garcia most recently competed in the USFF2000 National Championship in 1998 and 1999 having several top-ten finishes en route to an 11th place finish out of 46 competitors in the championship in 1998 and 13th of 47 in 1999. Transnet Racing is finalizing sponsorship agreements as this notice goes to press and will be making a formal announcement in that regard in the next few weeks.

Long-time Venezuelan television reporter/producer Max Lefeld will be reporting and broadcasting all Transnet Racing activities into South America. Additionally, public relations specialist, Niky Pauli, an Argentinean national based in Miami, will concentrate on publicizing activities to the USA media as well as South America.

Transnet Racing's initial plans call for competing in Toyota Atlantic racing for two years before increasing operations and expanding into the CART FedEx Championship series.
