Walker Racing Completes Provisional Qualifying in Toronto

Toronto, ON, Canada - Coming off of a successful race weekend in Mont Tremblant last week, Walker Racing was ready to tackle street racing again as they zoomed around Exhibition Place in Toronto today.

Ryan Lewis (#15 NCPI Solutions/InSport) proved that he was ready to hit the Toronto circuit as he clocked the ninth quickest time of 1:06.534 seconds (94.959 mph) for today's session. Toronto is definitely a track that suits the Englishman's style as he finished on the podium last year.

Getting used to the different grip levels and close to the wall-style of racing, Simona De Silvestro (#5 Miauton), re-acclimated herself to street racing. Unfortunately the changes made to the rookie's car during the session didn't steer the 18-year old in the right direction, as she had the fourteenth fastest time of 1:06.924 seconds (94.406 mph).

Stay tuned as Walker Racing hits the pavement tomorrow for Champ Car Atlantic practice beginning at 11:05 a.m. ET.

What they had to say:

Simona De Silvestro:

"Today's session was not as good as we had hoped. We didn't go in the right direction at first and then we made another change and we were quick again, so I think we are headed in the right direction. We'll think it over tonight and hopefully do better tomorrow."

Derrick Walker:

"Ryan's car I think is pretty good. He just needs to continue to put his laps together and he will be up there in the top six. I think he definitely has the better car. Simona's car we found a direction that would help her, but we needed to get there sooner. She's not that far off of Ryan's time at the moment, but she needs more and I think we've got the direction for tomorrow."

Ryan Lewis: "All in all I think we weren't quite where we wanted to be in qualifying, but it's the first day and I think we had a really good car. I found it very hard to find anything wrong with car. We should have, been quicker, but same old story we just weren't able to get a lap together. There's a lot more left in the car and we are in a good position for tomorrow."
