INDIANAPOLIS (January 10, 2006) -- The Champ Car Atlantic Championship is proud to continue one of the longest partnerships in motorsports with today's announcement that the Yokohama Tire Corporation will return for its 18th season with North America's top open-wheel racing development category, once again serving as the exclusive tire supplier and presenting sponsor for the Atlantic series in 2006.

In this prestigious role, Yokohama will continue to provide its ultra-performance ADVAN Racing Slicks as the official tire on the new generation Atlantic competition package that will feature a Swift 016.a chassis design powered by a 2.3 liter Cosworth engine. Yokohama will also continue to provide significant contribution to the Atlantic prize fund making the 12-race purse one of the most substantial in racing. In addition, Yokohama will have an even stronger presence this season among Atlantic competitors with its Contingency Tire Program and among race enthusiasts with at-the-track presence through its racing services arm, Trackside Performance.

The Champ Car Atlantic Championship continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. The championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. 2005 Champ Car competitors Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger and Ronnie Bremer are also established Atlantic graduates along with 2004 Champ Car Rookie of the Year and 2003 Atlantic champ A.J.
