Strong Fourth Place Performance by Conquest Racing's Schlegelmilch in Provisional Qualifying at Sebring

Sebring, Fla (March 18, 2009) - Conquest Racing rookie drivers Harald Schlegelmilch and James Winslow took part today in what was an exciting first qualifying session for the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda race at Sebring International Raceway. With the field exchanging their positions throughout the 40-minute session, Conquest Racing found themselves fourth with Schlegelmilch and 13th with Winslow on the provisional grid when all was said and done.

Conquest Driver Notes and Quotes:

4th - #21 Harald Schlegelmilch (R), Conquest Racing Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016.a/Cooper

- Latvian Schlegelmilch, who showed plenty of potential, sat in the top three for most of the session. However, after being relegated to sixth, he jumped back up to fourth on his final lap. His time of 1:53.810 was less than 25 hundredths of a second out of first place.

- Will be making his first Atlantic start on Friday, in Sebring.

What Harald had to say: "We definitely had the potential to fight for the provisional pole today, so I'm a little disappointed but it's still a good performance for my first Atlantic qualifying session. I feel much more comfortable in the car and the team is doing a great job. I think we have a good shot for the pole tomorrow. (About the Sebring track) It's my first time here but it's one of my favorites already! It's bumpy and fast, I like it. I always preferred the kind of old-fashioned tracks. I'm enjoying driving on this one."

13th - #12 James Winslow (R), Conquest Racing Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016.a/Cooper

- While Schlegelmilch benefitted from a two-day test last week to familiarize himself with the Atlantic car, Winslow only had two 35-minute testing sessions yesterday and a 45-minute practice this morning to get up to speed before taking on this afternoon's qualifying.

- Will be making his first Atlantic start on Friday, in Sebring.

What James had to say: "I'm enjoying driving the Atlantic car, but I'm facing a steep learning curve coming in yesterday and not having a lot of track time before qualifying. However, I feel that I have learned a lot in the little time on track and that I now know what's needed. We'll work hard tonight and I think we can make a big improvement tomorrow. We just have to stay positive and be on top of it. Conquest is a great team and I know that we will come out stronger tomorrow."

Next Up: Both drivers will be looking to improve their positions tomorrow during the final round of qualifying. The 40-minute session starts at 12:50 p.m. eastern time. Round one of the 2009 Atlantic Championship season goes green at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20.
