Simona De Silvestro Qualifies 2nd, while Muniz's Injury Sidelines Him

Team Stargate World's Simona De Silvestro took to the Mospsort International Raceway track today and qualified in the second position. Improving from a fifth place practice effort yesterday, the youngster, and current Championship points leader put on another strong qualifying effort in preparation for tomorrow's Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda race. Despite a 30 minute delay due to wet and foggy conditions at the track the determined De Silvestro kept her focus and put on a very strong effort. A solid qualifying effort was needed today if she was going to have a chance at continuing her momentum and keep her lead in the Championship.

Her teammate Frankie Muniz will not be competing at this weekend's event and looks to have prematurely finished his 2009 racing season as a result of a first lap incident at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The ensuing injury required Muniz to have 2 pins inserted into his left hand this week and made any chance of returning to racing this year nearly impossible.

Simona De Silvestro, Driver No. 78 - "It was a little bit of a crazy qualifying session considering it started off wet and then changed. In the end though I am happy with the qualifying effort. Starting in the second spot will help us a lot in the overall scheme of things and starting 2 positions in front of my competitor John Edwards helps us even more. I'm very grateful for the team's efforts and know that we will have a very fast car for tomorrow's race"
