Successful Race for Walker Racing in Mont Tremblant
Mont Tremblant, QC, Canada (July 1, 2007) - It was an action packed race weekend for Walker Racing as they battled the changing weather conditions, still managing to come away with a positive result for the Champ Car Mont Tremblant race.
Rookie Simona De Silvestro (#15 Miauton) finished with her career best result of seventh place for today's race. As the green flag dropped, De Silvestro, had her best start of the season, but had to let up on Robert Wickens, allowing Jonathan Bomarito to pass, but maintained her position throughout the race.
After a tough struggle throughout the weekend, Ryan Lewis (#5 NCPI Solutions/InSport) preserved through the race. The Brit had a strong start and managed to work his way up the grid from nineteenth finishing with a thirteenth place finish.
Walker Racing now heads to Toronto for Round 8 of the Champ Car Atlantic championship next weekend July 7-8. For more updates on the team please visit www.walkerracing.com.
What they had to say....
Derrick Walker: "Just what Simona needed, the chance to run all throughout the race and have a good start. Unfortunately at this track you can't overtake easily, but she did everything else that she needed to bring it home. Ryan, did a good job of trying to make some places happen earlier on in the race. All in all, we did the best with what we had and it's a good result for our two drivers and the team."
Ryan Lewis: "We found it tough to find the right balance throughout the race and were held up pretty much through the entire race with Sciuto. With this circuit it makes it very hard to pass and unfortunately the only place Allan made a mistake was into our worst corner. The positive thing is we came away with points and that is the whole idea in the end."
Simona De Silvestro: "I finally got my start right so I had a good start only Wickens blocked me a little bit and I had to let up and Bomarito passed me. Apart from that, it was a great a race, we were really consistent the whole race and the car felt great. We made a huge step forward with car and myself. We are definitely headed in the right direction."
