Ryan third fastest in Milwaukee qualifying

Ryan Dalziel ended up third fastest in qualifying today at the Milwaukee Mile prior to tomorrow evening's 70-lap dash, the third round of the 2004 Toyota Atlantic Championship. The Scottish charger, leading the series since the opening race in April, piloted the #28 ProWorks Swift round the 1.032-mile oval with a best time of 24.920s, just short of an average speed of 240kph.

As the defending race champion, the 22-year-old Sierra Sierra Enterprises racer will have to get the better of series rivals Jon Fogarty and Alex Figge when the green flag's waved, the American duo sealing a Pacific Coast Motorsports lock-out of the top two in qualifying.

Dalziel, Fogarty and Figge were the only runners to break into the 24 second barrier in this evening's session with the top ten covered by just one second to guarantee a close and no doubt eventful race on the only oval on the Toyota Atlantic schedule.

Tomorrow's start marks the first time this season Dalziel has failed to start from pole position but with a championship lead to safeguard the target is a top race finish and a healthy dose of points!

"I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the race," remarked Ryan. "It's important for me to be consistent with the points race likely to be tight throughout the season. If positions come my way then obviously I won't refuse them but I'm focused on my championship lead and keeping it intact heading to Portland for the double-header in two weeks time."

Saturday's race, Round 3 of the 12-race Toyota Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama, starts at 5:15pm Central Time. Further details, live timing and results can be found on: www.toyotaatlantic.com
