WATER JOE RACING GETS INTO HIGH GEAR WITH UPCOMING CHICAGO MOTORSPORTS PROMOTION AT NAVY PIER COMPLEX
SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (July 15, 1998) - Chicago-based Water Concepts Inc., parent company of the Water Joe brand, the world's first caffeine enhanced water, today announced details of the 'SPLASH N' DASH' motorsports promotion to be held in downtown Chicago at the Navy Pier complex on Saturday July 25th 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
"The 'SPLASH N' DASH' event culminates our 'Drink & Drive Water Joe' promotion advocating caffeine enhanced water for drowsy drivers." Joe Brumfield, Water Concepts Director of Marketing said. "People who work long hours and drive home tired can really compromise their safety. Water Joe is proving to be a great product with a great solution. Caffeine, without having to handle a hot cup of coffee while you're driving." The 'SPLASH' side of the downtown event comes courtesy of Sea-Doo/Ski-Doo, an associate series sponsor of the PPG-Dayton Indy Lights championship who are donating a personal watercraft as the grand prize.
"The PDR/Water Joe racing team will be competing with CART in Toronto this coming weekend." Dave Holdener, president of Water Concepts said. "The team will be headed to Chicago immediately following the race. We're going to accommodate the guys locally so they can prepare the car for their next Atlantic event in Trois-Rivieres, August 1-2. We will have the Water Joe race car on display all day Saturday, July 25th, at the downtown Navy pier complex. Radio host Steve Dahl of Chicago-based WCKG will personally announce the sweepstakes winners. He will also introduce driver Michael Todd David to Chicago's Water Joe race fans. Michael is scheduled for two autograph appearances during product samplings."
Holdener also explained how the 10 finalists will be randomly selected from the 'SPLASH N' DASH' sweepstakes entries received since the promotion began last month. Each finalist will be given a key to start the Sea-Doo. The nine runner-ups will be given first prize 'Water Joe racing kits' that include two Water Joe racing caps, two Water Joe racing shirts and two tickets to round 10 of the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship at Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. on August 15-17. Five second prizes of two race tickets will also be awarded as well as product and racing apparel for other prize winners.
The $1.4 million KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship for open-wheel, single seat race cars is the premier international development series for the CART FedEx Championship Series and Formula One drivers and teams. The Atlantic championship, which is celebrating its silver anniversary season, is an expansion of Water Joe's brand marketing efforts in the motorsports industry. All races are televised on ESPN2 in the United States, ESPN International, SBT in Brazil , Canada's CTV network, and French Canadian television network RDS.
