"Getting back into an Atlantic car after the A1GP car is certainly a different feeling," said Jonathan, after his first practice session.

"The Newman Wachs' number 36 Car and the undulations of Laguna Seca are far different from the world famous track of Brands Hatch. In practice we struggled with set up as the track temperatures were over 120 degrees and air temperatures were in the 100's. The Atlantic series only gives 1 session for practice, and then it's qualifying; so we had a quick learning curve to find a set up compared to many teams who had several days there in the off season practices."

Qualifying again in the high temperatures became difficult to find grip, in addition to all the cars each trying to find open track, many coming and going into the pits, cars on cold or worn tires, and others on hot laps, all made the timing even more important. To this equation add yellows and reds and we did well finishing 7th. Saturday: In qualifying 2 excessive heat again made tire grip really important. Jonathan reached a top 5 after changing tires only to miss out due a to a red flag ending the session early leaving him back in 9th.

Race Report: Jonathan had a great start gaining about 4 places then a corner later he was pushed wide causing him to drop down to 13th place. For the rest of the race he fought hard gaining one place at a time to get his way back up to 6th which was a great feat as the track has very little passing opportunities.

Afterwards Jonathan said the car was good, "My engineer, Don Halliday, does an excellent job in engineering the car. Although we had a little understeer at times it was a lot of fun racing my way back to the front." Jonathan added, "The next few weeks between races will be a welcome break as I haven't been home for a while due to my racing commitments. I'm looking forward to catching up with my family and friends. I know we are ready for a win in the next race and know we are going to go for the title in the championship."

Jonathan is currently top rookie and 2nd in the Championship.
