New York, NY (March 26, 2002) - Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal is pleased to announce the forthcoming Open-Wheel Racing Summit, May 21-22, 2002 at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and The Westin Indianapolis.

Presented by SportsBusiness Journal, the Open-Wheel Racing Summit has been designed to provide a behind the scenes examination of the marketing, sponsorship, television and challenges & vision for open-wheel racing in the U.S. The event's distinguished speaker faculty has been instrumental in helping craft a program that addresses the industry's most pressing issues, and meets the true needs of senior-level sports executives.

The Summit will delve into areas that are critical to the future of open-wheel racing including leadership, television rights, sponsorship, new media and support series. This exciting two-day program will analyze the significant opportunities and challenges ahead through a series of featured keynote presentations, lively panel discussions, guest appearances, and roundtable discussions from IRL and CART that no industry executive would want to miss.

Issues to be examined include: What can be done to enhance open-wheel racing as a brand? What is the role of sponsors in the future of open-wheel racing? How can open-wheel position itself, and compete in a fragmented racing market and over-saturated sports market? What is the future mission for the sport? Is there money still out there for sponsorships in a slowing economy? What do the fans want? What are top brands focusing on?

Behind-the-scenes opportunities include pace car rides, exclusive tours and credentials for Carb Day. Attendees will also have the chance to network informally with their peers the week of the world famous Indianapolis 500. This is the event where top brand managers, owners, the leagues, manufacturers and broadcasters will have the exclusive opportunity to network and mingle at the Brickyard.
