RAHAL TO START THIRD AT FAST TRAC 100, UNSER III 21st
Houston, Texas, May 12, 2006 -- Graham Rahal was third in final round of qualifying for the Fast Trac 100 today registering a time of 1:05.646 (92.771 mph). Having put in a slower lap time in final qualifying, the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing driver's starting position is based on his time from yesterday's session which puts him in third on the starting grid, his best result this season. Al Unser III put in a better time today but fell to the 21st spot on the grid with a time of 1:07.140 (90.617 mph). The Mi-Jack Conquest team will be hard at work tonight to get the cars ready for tomorrow's race, having to change the engine in both cars due to cracked engine mouths. The Fast Trac 100 at the Grand Prix of Houston starts at 5:15 p.m. local time.
Third - Graham Rahal #18 Gehl Company
"Third is good, but we have a broken motor mouth so to be where we are is good and we have to be satisfied. I think we can gain a bit more time. If we would have had more time on track and more laps we probably would have been better. I am happy to be starting in the second row because the start will be very interesting. I think turn one will be difficult, a little less for the guys in front, I am more concerned about the guys behind.
21st - Al Unser III #30 200+MMP
"The Fast Trac 200+ car did alright in qualifying. We were able to put in a quicker lap time today, but unfortunately so did a lot of the other cars which cost us a couple of positions on the grid. It will be important to stay out of trouble in the first corner tomorrow and get the Conquest Racing car to the finish and also up in the standings."
