HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Buddy Rice of Phoenix, Ariz., slipped by Dan Wheldon with one lap to go to win Sunday's CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Sunday's race was the second of two Toyota Atlantic races during the weekend. On Saturday, it was Wheldon, of Newport Beach, Calif., who nipped Rice for the victory in the season opener. Rice started fourth on Sunday but took the lead from Wheldon, the polesitter, on the first lap and controlled most of the race. Wheldon took the lead for the first time on lap 48 following a restart, but a lap later, Rice got the best of Wheldon, taking the lead for good. It was Rice's second Atlantic career victory. Rocky Moran, Jr., of Coto de Caza, Calif., finished a career-high third, passing Andrew Bordin for the position on the last lap. Round three of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship will be held April 15 at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
