FRIDAY DRIVER QUOTES FOLLOWING PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING

#43 JOAO BARBOSA (RDS Motorsports-Toyota of Portugal/Sega/Caetano Buses) "It's a great track to drive. Yesterday, I was trying to learn the track as soon as possible so I wouldn't lose too much time. The car had a good setup. We improved today, but there is still room for improvement. It all started last weekend when things weren't going that well, but we were learning a lot of good lessons from mistakes we made, and that helped us a lot to improve for this track. It feels great to be ahead of all these great drivers. This is such a good series, it's very competitive, and I'm very happy to be part of it."

#35 DAVID POOK (B.D.J.S.-HYPE Energy Drink/Budweiser) "The track was very different than this morning. It was pretty greasy and I had trouble getting the Budweiser/HYPE Energy Drink Toyota Atlantic hooked up. We made some aerodynamic adjustments but could never quite get that perfect lap. I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow, so that we get another shot at a good lap." (Sabina Clemens)

#78 DAVID RUTLEDGE (B.D.J.S.-Flemming Financial/Keg Caeser’s) "I am really pleased with my first qualifying run. I think we finished 14th, which is within our top 15th qualifying expectations" Hopefully the rain will hold off for tomorrow." (Scott Brownrigg)

#32 ALEX BARRON (Lynx Racing-Victory Circle/Red Line Oil) "My car finally came in around mid-session, but it felt really different than this morning and we're wondering if it might be the different set of tires. We'll be making quite a few changes overnight to get the ideal setup. I think tomorrow, if it doesn't rain, we might get down to the high three's. This track is so long that a good draft can be useful, but it can't compensate for traffic, so you just have to hope it works out for you." (Peter Frey)

#14 CHUCK WEST (World Speed Motorsports-Red Line Oil/Martini Sunglasses/Harvest Group) This effort is a huge relief for both myself and my crew. There's still some speed left in the car and we're a little bit behind because we missed Thursday. I wonder what we could have done if we would have been able to work on set-up yesterday. If the weather holds, we'll be looking to improve for tomorrow. We still have few adjustments but, as usual, my guys have given me a great car." (Pam Morey)

#19 MEMO GIDLEY (Lynx Racing) "We definitely made some progress missed an hour of the test session yesterday with a gearbox failure, so we were a little bit behind the eight-ball during this session. My car felt great and very well balanced in this morning’s session and less so this afternoon. If I can get it back to how it felt this morning, I'll be happy. I really love this track and it should be a good show for the fans." (Peter Frey)

#66 ALEXANDRE TAGLIANI (Player’s Forsythe Racing Team-Player's/Indeck) "We lacked the speeds in the straights so we adjusted the wing. The car lost handling and got loose in corner one and with a 360-degree spin, I went in the gravel. I bent the underplate and couldn't finish the session." (Francois Cartier)

#33 BERTRAND GODIN (Player’s Forsythe Racing Team-Player's/Indeck) "I didn't manage the traffic well and lost time especially in the corners. The car had a lot of understeer and was hard to drive. The engine is fine although I need a little more power on the straights. As for handling, we have a lot of adjusting to do." (Francois Cartier)

NEIL MICKLEWRIGHT (Team Manager for Player's Forsythe Racing) "Alex's car doesn't seem to have much damage although we need to have a closer look. Remember last week the car looked good but the tub required repair. Both cars need to be faster on the straights, that's our main job. The handling is generally good, but what we need to do is find more power." (Francois Cartier)

#85 STEVE KNAPP (P-1 Racing-Miller Milling Co./Manheim Auctions/ICG) "The team did a really good job putting the car back together after my accident yesterday. We just made a few changes for this qualifying session, which turned out to be good. However, we had little too much downforce and the car was just too easy to drive on the high-speed stuff. We're definitely lacking some speed on the straight-line, and we need to figure out what that is, whether it's the aerodynamics or the engine. We're going to look into that and hopefully we'll be stronger tomorrow."
