(LONG BEACH, Calif.) April 15, 2002 -Barber Dodge alumni dominated the second round of the 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic Series at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Michael Valiante, a former Barber-CART Big Scholarship winner and the 1999 Barber Dodge Co-Rookie of the Year, scored his first career Atlantics win ahead of a slew of Barber Dodge trained drivers including runner-up Alex Gurney and third-place finisher Jon Fogarty.

Fogarty now leads the series' points chase ahead of Valiante by three points.

Rocky Moran, Jr., in fifth place, Roger Yasukawa in seventh place, and Sepp Koster in eighth place made six of the Top-10 Barber Dodge grads.

Ryan Hunt-Reay who started the race on the outside pole was the victim of unfortunate circumstances in turn-1 of the opening lap, which relegated him to the tail end of the field. He fought back impressively to record the fastest lap of the race, a new track record in his first ever visit to the Long Beach circuit.
