Alan Sciuto Racing: Friday in the City of Rock

May 22, 2007 (Cleveland, Ohio) -- The day began in a very promising fashion for Alan Sciuto and the team that bears his name, as the nineteen-year-old from Orange, Calif. After his Swift 016a had to be rebuilt after Ronnie Bremmer put him into the wall during the second race of the Portland doubleheader, the team clearly put it back together well as Sciuto propelled it to P3 during Friday morning's session.J However, the team tumbled down the timesheet during the afternoon's provisional qualifying session, with the team having missed slightly on the setup -- but such is the level of competition in Champ Car Atlantic that the smallest misstep makes a huge difference.

"Our car was really solid in the morning, but that isn't such a surprise considering the entire right side is brand new...J It was surprising because we just rolled it out and it was pretty good -- so good that we left it pretty much the way that it was. But the track got tons more grip in the afternoon -- far more than we expected -- and we developed a big push. It took a while to get a clean lap because we had to start out last because of the crash at the last race. I had a couple of good laps going but we hit traffic each time, then on my last lap I was pushing really hard and spun. It wasn't our best day.

This track is the one track where I've gone off on my own -- I crashed during qualifying here last year and spun today. It's a big open airport with no reference points at all, and you're just doing wide sweepers across bumpy corners. But we'll get it more squared up for tomorrow."
